This 30 hour hands-on course is for the beginner or for those who have some experience. Projects such as walkways and patios using paving bricks, retaining walls use of the new interlocking block and the building and repair of brick stairs will be demonstrated. The student will also learn how to build both brick and block walls with mortar and stucco finish. Safety glasses provided.

This is your chance to learn how to use your sewing machine and to apply that knowledge to your very own sewing projects. You choose the project, bring your materials, and learn how to bring that project to life with the support of the instructor and your fellow students. It will cover Carpentry and Woodworking fundamentals as well as emphasize familiarity with a wide variety of hand tools and power tools. If you've ever considered becoming a beekeeper or if you're new to beekeeping but have had difficulties keeping them alive and thriving, this course is for you. Designed specifically for students who have little or no experience working with bees, but have a desire to learn and develop your beekeeping skills and techniques, this course will provide you with the foundation you need to manage your own hive. You'll learn about honey bee behavior and biology, understand the beekeeping calendar, equipment considerations, protective gear, how to order your bees, the installation process, seasonal hive management and so much more. You will learn effective beekeeping techniques so that you keep your bees healthy and thriving all year long.

Digital photography, retouching and printing using a Digital SLR Camera. This 18 hour course is intended for people who are enthusiastic beginners. Students will learn how to use their camera's manual settings rather than rely on "auto" mode. Emphasis will be placed on image composition. Photo editing essentials such as retouching, color correction, cropping, and converting images to black and white will also be presented.
Digital SLR camera (or high-end point and shoot camera with manual settings) and two 1GB memory cards required.

This 75 hour course is a hands-on, electrical program for those looking to learn the fundamentals of the electrical trade. You will learn AC/DC theory, wiring methods, bending conduit, some motors and controls, Ohm’s Law, wiring of outlets, switches and lights, job sight and electrical safety, and basic troubleshooting.
At the end of this class, you will have the opportunity to enter the workforce as electrical apprentices for employment with electrical contractors and system contractors, while working towards the goal of licensure.

This 60 hour course is hands-on and introduces basic plumbing tools, materials, and fixtures. Topics include standard tools, materials, and fixtures used in basic plumbing systems and other related systems.
At the end of this class, you will have the opportunity to enter the workforce as plumbing apprentices for employment with plumbing contractors and system contractors, while working towards the goal of licensure.

Programs run June 23, 2025 - August 7, 2025 in person at Whittier Tech on Mondays 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM - Thursdays 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. All programs are 200 hours in length. Please note completion of the online inquiry does not guarantee a spot in the training program. You will receive an email with the next application steps. If you do not respond to the email, you will not be considered for the training program.
Candidates must be:
-18 years or older
-Not enrolled in high school
-MA resident
-Considered unemployed or underemployed
-Eligible to work in the U.S.
-Intention of seeking full time employment in training area upon completion of program
