Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide

Summer Accelerated Session - Monday thru Friday - 8am until 2pm - (5 weeks July 17th thru August 11th)
Fall 2017 Evening Session- Monday and Wednesday 5 until 9 Pm Begins early September
A CORI check is required prior to acceptance into the program.
This course prepares students for an entry-level career in health care with a 100-hour training program for Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Home Health Aide. Fulfill classroom hours on campus and clinical experience in a local nursing facility with Registered Nurse instructors. The skills taught in this state licensed certificate program include vital signs, moving and turning patients, personal care basics, bed making, bed bath and feeding, record keeping and responding to emergencies. Proof of immunizations and a negative TB test is required prior to Clinical Experience.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

The EMT training program prepares students for the evaluation and treatment of various medical emergencies, including: cardiac arrest, stroke, poisoning, burns, fractured bones, obstructed airways, emergency child birth, and severe bleeding.
Students also receive a CPR Healthcare Provider Card from the American Heart Association upon successful completion. After successfully completingthe EMT course, students receive an Elite Medical Educators, Inc. certificate and are eligible for the state certification examination. The state certification examination will be on site at Whittier.
EMT Basic medical skills include; Emergency Care Training, Anatomy and Physiology,Patient Assessment and Vital Signs ,Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Spinal Immobilization, Control of Bleeding and Shock, Bandaging and Splinting and Airway Obstruction
Monday & Wednesday 5:00-9:00PM
Saturday Classes TBA by instructor at first meeting.

C.) 8 Real Life Scenario Re-Enactments including: Heart Attack & Stroke, Bleeding Control & Splinting, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Heat & Cold Emergencies, Allergic Reaction, Lightning Emergencies, Diabetic Emergency, Choking/Obstructed Airway (infant, child, adult)
Textbook Required: AAOS/ECSI First Aid, CPR and AED Guidebook (provided by The Band of Heroes)
