Plumbing Journeyman - Tier Licensing Program

Massachusetts General Law has mandated that beginning in September 2008 all plumbing apprenticeship training programs approved by the state, must meet the same standards and follow a common curriculum. The new system will require 550 hours (110 each year) of classroom instruction, plus 5 years on the job training.

Plumbing Tier I  

110 HOURS - $770 plus registration fee -  Next Class begins September 2018
Plumbing Apprentice Card Required

The course will teach the following lessons: Introduction to plumbing, safety and installation practices, materials, tools and joining methods used in plumbing, valves & devices used in plumbing, residential blueprints, math and definitions. The course will run for 2 semesters, 55 hours each. Students must hold a current registered apprentice card as a prerequisite.  

Monday & Wednesday - 6:00-9:00PM

Plumbing Tier II

110 HOURS - $770 plus registration fee -   Next Class begins September 2018
Prerequisite: Must have completed Plumbing Tier I and have a Plumbing Apprentice Card

The course will teach the following lessons: Drainage, building sanitary waste and venting system, allowable materials and approval procedures, plumbing traps, cleanouts, plumbing code, potable water supply, math, gas fitting, blueprint reading, and definitions. The course will run for 2 semesters, 55 hours each. Students must hold a current registered apprentice card as a prerequisite.

Monday & Wednesday - 6:00-9:00PM

Plumbing Tier III  

110 HOURS - $770 plus registration fee -   Next Class begins September 2018
Prerequisite: Must have completed Plumbing Tier II and have a Plumbing Apprentice Card

The course will teach the following lessons: Venting, drainage, water supply, testing and safety, gas code, fixture installation, and definitions. The course will run for 2 semesters, 55 hours each. Students must hold a current registered apprentice card as a prerequisite.

Monday & Wednesday - 6:00-9:00PM

Plumbing Tier IV

110 HOURS - $770 plus registration fee -  Next Class begins September 2018
Prerequisite: Must have completed Plumbing Tier III and have a Plumbing Apprentice Card

The course will teach the following lessons: Gas code, General Provisions, Scope and Jurisdiction, Drainage Piping, Water Supply, Fixture Installations, hospital fixtures, Manufactured Homes and construction Trailers, Public and Semi-Public Swimming Pools,  and Vacuum Drainage Systems

Monday & Wednesday - 6:00-9:00PM

Plumbing Master/Tier V

55 HOURS - $385.00 plus registration fee -  Next Class begins September 2018
Prerequisite: Must have completed Plumbing Tier IV and have a Plumbing Apprentice Card

55 hour course of the 110 hours required for the Massachusetts Master Plumber Examination. The course will cover appropriate math, code and theory related to the Masters license.

Plumbing Journeyman Test Prep

30 HOURS $300.00 - Next Class TBA - Call 978-373-4101 ext. 215 for Information
This course is designed to review all aspects of the plumbing code and related information necessary to pass the Plumbers License Exam. Plumbing math, code, science, indirect waste systems, roof drains, gas piping and water distribution systems will be covered. These hours cannot be used toward Massachusetts State required hours.
